JUNE DUTY PILOT DRAW: The Volunteer Duty Pilot Monthly Draw for June ($50 free flying) goes to Stephen Penfold and Ronald Koenig. The Club appreciates the efforts our tireless band of volunteers generously give in helping their Club and this is one small way of saying thank you!

NIGHT CIRCUITS: Our Night Circuit events are always popular, and we are pleased to see the number of members who are able to take advantage of this opportunity to stay NVFR-current or to check out what night flying is all about. We will be holding our next night event on Friday, July 17th and will continue the "night circuit" format for those interested in night currency or getting hands-on exposure to flying at night.

NEW MEMBERS FOR JUNE: Welcome to June new members Jack Harris, Rianna Pekama, Audrey Bourgedis, Yuhao Niu, Cavan O’Grady, Aleesha Moroney, Ian Graham and Klaus Herrmann.

INFORMATION ZULU: The June 2009 issue of Information Zulu, Camden ATC's Air Traffic Control news circular, is now (282kB pdf). It's aim is to provide the Sydney Basin aviation community with a three-monthly source of news and information about Camden operations from an ATC point of view. You can download previous issues From the Tower, BK ATC's newsletter from our page.

HORN ISLAND TOUR: Our tour this year will be to Horn Island in the Torres Strait and will depart Bankstown on Saturday, 15 August and, after 15 nights and about 35 Warrior hours later, you'll return to Bankstown on Saturday, 29 August. There's also a Short Tour option if you can't spare two weeks. Download the (3.3MB pdf) and the . Additional details to follow.

ON-LINE BOOKING SYSTEM: We've put the finishing touches on our new on-line booking system! The old steam-driven, manual booking sheet is now a thing of the past and our new system is fully operational. Members are invited to contact the Club for login and operating instructions.

AEROPLANE DATA ON LINE: Now available on the and pages are Weight & Balance, Aeroplane Loading, and Take-Off & Landing data for most of our aircraft. Checklists are available for some of the fleet as well. Loading & Performance details for our Cessna fleet and Checklists for the entire fleet will be available shortly. Pilots should confirm the data before flight by referring to the Pilot's Operating Handbook and the Approved Flight Manual for the particular aircraft.

NEW MEMBER APPLICATIONS: Prospective new members of the Club can download a Membership (44kB pdf) here. Note that it is still necessary for new members to attend the Club in person with photo identification before applications can be processed.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! The Club is once again in need of volunteer help. A couple of our duty pilot teams are in need of a few extra helping hands to cover their scheduled weekends. If the teams are full this means half a day about once every two months for each person involved. Are you willing to pitch in and offer your help? Please call Vivianne or Suzanne at the Club on 9773 3611 and have a chat to see what the volunteer duty pilot work is all about. Read by Peter Blackbourn.

CONDITIONS OF FLYING CLUB AIRCRAFT: Members are reminded that it is a requirement of the Club that you present your logbook, pilot's licence and medical certificate to the Duty Pilot or staff member for confirmation of currency prior to undertaking a flight. More details on our page.

CANCELLATION FEE: Our instructors are facing a recurring problem with late cancellations or late arrivals by students for lessons. Please remember that our instructors work on a casual basis and, if they don't fly, they don't get paid. So, if you cancel, your instructor will lose income for that lesson. If you keep on doing it, the instructor will impose a late cancellation fee of $50 and the office will send you an invoice. You will have to pay the fee before you fly again so, unless you have a very good reason, think twice before cancelling a lesson at short notice.

EXTENDED BOOKINGS: Members wishing to hire aircraft for periods greater than one week will be required to pay 75% of the expected cost in advance of hire.

LATE DEPARTURES & ARRIVALS: Flights departing or returning after 5pm should be booked only after prior arrangement with a staff member, instructor or committee member regarding out of hours operating procedures.
