Our Fleet of Training Aircraft

Schofields Flying Club owns and operates nine aircraft and also cross hires aircraft where necessary. The basic training aircraft are the Cessna 150/152 and Piper Warrior/Archer leading through to the more advanced aircraft such as the Piper Arrow.

Click on the More... links to view an enlarged image of the aircraft, plus an aircraft data sheet. Checklists coming soon!

Archer PIPER ARCHER III - The Archer is one of the newest members of the fleet and was purchased brand new from the Piper factory in 1997. It is a four place aircraft with a 180hp Lycoming engine and is similar to the Warrior but is slightly faster (115 KTS IAS). It is operated in IFR category and has an approach approved Garmin GNS430 GPS.
Cessna 152 CESSNA 152 - The Cessna 152 aircraft is a two (2) place aircraft used for ab-initio training and will TAS at about 90 KTS. While it is an alternative to the Warrior for ab-initio training, it is not as suitable for navigation training due to its slower cruise speed. It is the least expensive aircraft to hire.
Warrior 161 PIPER WARRIOR PA-28-161 - The Warrior is a basic four (4) place training aircraft which has a 160Hp Lycoming engine and will TAS at about 105 KTS. This aircraft is used for ab-initio training and navigation training. It is also a popular aircraft for private hire.
Arrow PIPER ARROW III - The Arrow is the next step up from the Warrior and is a Constant Speed, Retractable aircraft. It has a 200Hp Lycoming engine and will TAS at 130 KTS. The Arrow is equipped in IFR category.
Seminole PIPER SEMINOLE PA-44-180 - is essentially a twin-engine version of the Piper Arrow. It is equipped with two 180-hp Lycoming engines with contra-rotating propellers and makes an effective multi-engine trainer. TAS 150 knots at A060, MTOW 1723kg, fuel capacity 400L.
Elite ELITE AT-21 AIRTRAINER - for IFR training. The instrumentation and performance represents various popular aeroplane types, which can be selected by the instructor, from the Piper Archer III to the Beech King Air B200. The instrument panels are photo realistic and true to life and the software has been specially designed to allow GPS NPA capability.
